to all sales promoters in singapore (and the world), cheers!

and now, i’m going to talk about (my negative thinkings on) them.

Note: it’s my personal opinion and it doesn’t apply to ALL salespersons.

i’ve been wondering (lately) why there have to be so many sales promoters in each pharmacy (or watson’s store, if you want). Each sales promoter, of course, is in-charge of his/her own product and counter. Then i thought it’d be good for someone to voice this concern.

Taadaaaa! In Today page 31, there’s an article at the bottom left corner of the paper reading “Why so many sales promoters?” HAHAHA, exactly what i wanted to say!

erm, pardon me but, i’m kinda lazy to type whole article out. SO, read up if you want! maybe todayonline.com has it.

anyway, as i was saying.. why is there a need for SO MANY promoters in one small pharmacy? First, usually the pharmacy are rather small with limited space for walking (e.g. TM’s Guardian). Then, these promoters are (i suppose) not trained in this area, by the company, in the products! Or maybe a quick training, but they do not specialise in the products they promote!

i was recently at some shopping mall in Orchard Rd, trying to get my cleanser. Thank God I had tried their products before. The promoter obviously isn’t aware of (or have no idea how to gauge) my skin condition, yet there she was trying to ’sell’ me the different kinds of cleansers and moisturisers (for all different skin types) that she has on the shelf.

So, my point is.. why hire them to promote when they have no idea what the customers need??

I am sick of these kind of promoters. At the same time, i feel sorry for sales promoters who are so professional, giving quality service, understanding customers practical and emotional expectations.

Everybody’s born with different (special) abilities. Some are good at logics, some arts etc. you get what i mean.

Me? i have no idea what kind of abilities i have. I seem to doubt my computing abilities ever since i got offered a place in computing. has BIT equipped me with enough knowledge to proceed to IS? will i find comfort in IS? is IS really what i want? will i graduate with IS yet work on something not even close to it? i have so many doubts to clear, yet i found no one to share.

note: IS = information systems.

maybe i should just quit everything and be a full-time tai tai. i’m, once again (yes, my life is full of choices!), at one of the biggest crossroads in my life.

you say, if you like it, just go for it. i suppose no one else other than ah bao understands my concerns. my concerns of which i’ve wasted 2 long years in jc, my concerns of family, of money, etc.

perhaps it’s true that people can only relate when they have gone through exactly the same. EXACTLY. well, at least for now, i still have some time to think through and consider AGAIN (and yet again).

ANYWAY, my purpose of this entry is.. out of pure boredom? And yes, I’m amazed at my ability to act busy and do nothing in office but, surf net, take personality test (adviced by mr go as we spoke on msn, haha), get bored, and still get bored.

Ahh, finally i have a special ability! How comforting. Sigh.

Yes, everyone has the right to be. Read about Miss Landmine Survivor pageant on the news, held in Africa 2 days ago. These contestants are all maimed by landmines in their own provinces. In Angola, there are still 300 - 400 people who are maimed by landmines left behind by the 3 decade civil war.

 Damn. bloody civil war. 300 to 400 is ALOT.

So many areas filled with landmines! And they have caused many more (other than just the contestants) unemployed. Sigh.

everybody seems more educated these days.
in qualifications.
but, are they, in their minds, as educated?
what has Singaporeans have to offer, to return to the society?
